Michael Fassbender, now at age 34, is perhaps the most sought out actor working today; landing leading roles in last year’s Shame, A Dangerous Method and X-Men: First Class. If there is one thing that has become clear, Fassbender likes to bear it all if the role calls for it. Long before Shame or even Hunger, the actor took it all off, in his first professional acting job at 21 years of age.
“I got the SAS Airlines commercial when I was in drama school,” Fassbender told EW recently. “They would have kicked me out if they found out. In the commercial, I wake up in bed and there’s a beautiful blonde next to me. I get up naked, walk to the kitchen, open the fridge, drink some milk, eat some eggs, and I look over my shoulder and her mother’s sitting there really stern, and there’s a plant strategically placed in front of my … you know. And the line was: ‘SAS Airlines — When you’d rather be somewhere else.’ I got 2,200 pounds for it.”

F**k the Golden Globes, Here are the winners for the 2012 London Film Critics Circle Awards
We’re still halfway though award season and so here comes another awards ceremony; only this one we actually care about (unlike the Golden Globes). The winners for the 2012 London Film Critics Circle Awards have been announced and thanlfully these critics actually know what they’re doing.
Michel Hazanavicius’ silent film The Artist continues its near sweep of awards this season taking home the Best Film, Best Director, and Best Actor prize while the Iranian drama A Separation won Best Foreign Film and Lynne Ramsay’s We Need To Talk About Kevin (a film we have championed heavily here on Sound On Sight) took home The Attenborough Award. Here is the complete list of winner.
Link of the day: Steve McQueen: Sex addiction destroys lives
The British artist and film-maker Steve McQueen sat down with HARDtalk’s Zeinab Badawi to discuss his latest film Shame. The two get into a somewhat heated argument about the idea that sex addiction is real. McQueen goes on to say the condition is very real and is destroying people’s lives. He tells Badawi that both men and women can have an unhealthy relationship with sex in the same way they can with food where the craving for it becomes a compulsion making everything else in life become secondary.
Ricky D’s 50 Favourite Films of 2011 + favorite performances, director and more
I always hear people say they don’t make movies like they used to.Well truthfully they don’t, but they still make great movies each and every year. 2011 was another successful year and while I only listed about 50 films below, I honestly could have stretched the list to at least 75 movies I’d feel comfortable recommending. If you can get away from all the Hollywood blockbusters and make room for more obscure genre films or art-house cinema, you will discover some truly great gems.
