Welcome to the fourth edition of [the] best of Korean new wave cinema series of articles, a running series that comes out every two weeks, in it we look at the best 21st century Korean cinema, or Korean new wave as it has been dubbed. Whether it’s K-horror or Korean animation or the work of one of the more renowned auteurs, most everything worthy of mention in Korean cinema will get its moment in this article. This time it’s the first article to tackle the work of a celebrated director. The director in question is Joon H0-Bong, and his first two films are his directorial debut released in 2000, Barking Dogs Never Bite, and his 2003 highly acclaimed follow up, Memories of Murder.
